This family of 7, shares a three-bedroom house with 5 other people, creating a grand total of 13 people in one home. Mar’ Lyn and her partner share their room with their 10 month old son, while her other children share the living room. The family’s home has an extensive mold problem, and due to lack of space, many of their belongings are stored in trash bags in the backyard. However, this does not keep the Blands down. Mar’Lyn’s friends and co-workers consider her to be an inspiration. The well-deserving Bland family is excited to receive their new home in San Pedro during the Jimmy Carter Work Project 2007.
"Anything worth having in life doesn’t come without hard work and dedication. I’ve realized that the more energy, time and effort I put into a task the more fulfilling it is. That is true no matter how great or how small the task. There is something so amazing and gratifying in working hard to accomplish a set goal, job or task. It has been a personal mission of mine to perform the very best I can in everything I put my hands to. I believe that the effort one puts out is directly related to the character of that person." -- Mar’ Lyn Bland |
