The Mojica Family

"I believe that when you work hard to get something, you learn not only to love it but to appreciate it as well. When it comes time to writing the check to pay my mortgage it will be with a smile on my face. In short I’m looking forward to this new journey. Change is always good," says Julissa Mojica, an employee at the Los Angeles County Department of Public and Social Services and mother of three children. Mojica and her family have spent the last few years moving from one relative’s house to another, after Mojica’s divorce from her husband left her homeless. Their recent living situation includes a sloped foundation, leaky bathrooms, moldy structure and a plethora of other conditions that are unsuitable for living. Mojica has worked very hard to make a better life for her children, and can’t wait to provide a new life for her family when she moves into her new house in San Pedro.
